Michigan’s 11/4 General Election is fast approaching—now’s the time to register, plan, and vote early to ensure your voice is heard. Key deadlines are coming up for registration, absentee ballots, and early voting, with new opportunities across the state to make participation easier than ever.

What to know:

  • Mon 10/20: Last day to register online or by mail.
  • Starting Tue 10/21: Registration must be in person at your local clerk’s office with proof of residency.
  • Tue 10/21: Last day to safely return an absentee ballot by mail. After that, deliver it to your local clerk’s office or a secure dropbox.
  • Sat 10/25: Some communities—including Detroit, Lansing, and Oakland County—begin early voting.
  • Tue 11/4: Election Day! The Detroit Department of Transportation will provide free bus rides to polling locations.
