Trees of Liberation Day: Honoring Freedom and Community

Join Michigan United and Michigan Liberation for a day of reflection and renewal

This Wednesday, August 27, from 9 AM – 1 PM, community members will gather at Kensington Metropark for Trees of Liberation Day, a day of remembrance, healing, and collective power.

Hosted by Michigan United and Michigan Liberation, this gathering creates space to honor the resilience of people impacted by incarceration and systemic oppression, while celebrating our ongoing fight for justice and liberation.

The day will include:

  • Community reflections and storytelling
  • Ceremonial planting of trees to symbolize renewal and freedom
  • Music and fellowship rooted in joy and solidarity

By coming together, we affirm our shared commitment to creating a Michigan where every person has the chance to thrive free from systemic barriers.
