Voting Access for All Coalition (VAAC) is joining a statewide coalition for Capitol Day 2026 / Día de Capitolio 2026 on Wednesday, April 29.
We will be in Lansing alongside Michigan United, Reproductive Freedom for All Michigan, Black Voters Matter, and partners from across the state for a full day of collective action from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is a coordinated day of advocacy bringing people from across Michigan to the Capitol to engage directly with lawmakers. We invite everyone to sign up and be a part of the day.
What to expect
Participants will:
- Meet with elected officials and their staff
- Participate in coordinated advocacy and direct action
- Join a statewide coalition calling for policy change
Free buses will be available from Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint, and Saginaw.
Food will be provided (please indicate any dietary restrictions on the sign-up form).
A Kid-Zone / Youth Activity Table will be available, and there are roles for people of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Participants can choose which issues to focus on, including voting rights, criminal justice, healthcare, money out of politics, data center and AI regulation, immigrant rights, and reproductive rights.
VAAC at the Capitol

- Conduct literature drops
- Meet with state representatives and senators
- Educate lawmakers and staff on voting access issues
VAAC ambassadors and interns will also be providing education and materials on key legislation, including:

- SB 603, introduced by State Senator Stephanie Chang, which requires the Department of Corrections to provide voting information to people upon release
- HB 4812, introduced by State Representative Joe Pavlov, which supports reentry by helping people obtain identification and providing voter registration and election information
Prepare for Capitol Day
We encourage participants to attend virtual trainings to prepare for Capitol Day, including sessions on:
- How to meet with legislators
- How to participate in direct actions
