Tell Governor Whitmer: Support Clemency and Sentencing Reform at Huron Valley

Women incarcerated at Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility have issued a solutions-driven open letter calling on Governor Whitmer to grant clemency to at least 100 women before the end of her term. The women are recommending the Women’s Clemency and Resentencing Initiative, a three-phase plan developed by women inside WHV that would:

  • Release approximately 800 women over three years
  • Restore single-cell occupancy to improve safety and infrastructure
  • Expand access to education, programming, and family connection

Why This Matters

Reducing the prison population is the fastest way to improve conditions, increase safety, and create space for meaningful programming, while allowing women who have demonstrated growth and readiness to return home.

Take Action! Ask Governor Whitmer to review the letter and act now to grant clemency to long-serving women at Huron Valley.
