VAAC Honored with 2026 Community Advocates Award

Last week, Voting Access for All Coalition (VAAC) was named the 2026 Organizational Honoree for the Community Advocates Award by the Apathetic Voters Bloc.

Executive Director Angela Davenport accepted the award on behalf of VAAC. The award recognized both the organization and Angela’s leadership in advancing this work.

The Apathetic Voters Bloc is a civic engagement organization focused on encouraging voter participation and helping communities connect with accessible information about the electoral process. Their work centers on helping more people understand the power of their voice and their vote.

This recognition highlights VAAC’s ongoing work building civic power with communities that have historically faced barriers to participation in our democracy. Across Michigan, VAAC engages directly with people impacted by incarceration, housing instability, and systemic exclusion through voter education, civic leadership development, and direct outreach.

Our work is rooted in the belief that civic participation grows when people have clear information, trusted relationships, and meaningful opportunities to engage in the democratic process.

We are grateful to the Apathetic Voters Bloc for the recognition and to the community members, volunteers, and partners who make this work possible. Building civic power is collective work, and this recognition reflects the many people across Michigan who are organizing, educating, and showing up to strengthen participation in our democracy.
