Behind every wrongful conviction is a person whose life has been changed, a family affected, and a story that deserves to be heard.
VAAC is proud to participate in the 2026 Wrongful Conviction Summit on Monday, November 16, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor!
Hosted by Project Community, Survivors Speak, and the Michigan Innocence Club, this free community event will bring together exonerees, impacted families, advocates, and community members to learn about wrongful convictions and inequalities within the criminal legal system.
The evening will feature firsthand stories, fireside chats, a Q&A panel, and opportunities to connect with organizations working on issues related to incarceration and wrongful convictions.
Keynote speaker Wendell L. Brown Sr. will share his experience of wrongful imprisonment in China and his journey to becoming an author, philanthropist, and nonprofit founder.
VAAC’s work centers people impacted by incarceration and systemic exclusion, and we’re glad to be part of an event that brings these experiences and conversations directly to the community.
