Fighting Housing Discrimination: Tony Gant Leading the Way

During Second Chance month, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan’s Michigan Justice Fund is spotlighting Tony Gant and his work with the campaign.

In Michigan, nearly one in three people with a criminal record are denied housing, fueling the prison-to-homelessness pipeline.

Tony and advocates are fighting for the Michigan Fair Chance Access to Housing Act to protect against housing discrimination and limit the use of background checks for those with criminal records.

With nearly three million Michiganders affected, housing is essential for stability and opportunity. Housing is a human right necessary for all to survive and thrive.

Over 100 organizations, including Michigan Works!, support this legislation. While it didn’t pass in the last session, the fight continues to ensure fair access to housing for all.

Thank you, Tony Gant, for your advocacy!
